Ferozepur, May 28. 2026: Senior BJP leader and former Barnala MLA Kewal Singh Dhillon has been appointed as the new President of the Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), drawing congratulations from party leaders and supporters across the state.
With his appointment, Dhillon has emerged as one of the prominent Sikh faces from the Malwa region to lead the Punjab BJP. Political observers believe the move is aimed at strengthening the party’s outreach among Sikh voters and expanding its base in rural Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Congratulating Dhillon on his appointment, Advocate Ashwani Kumar Dhingra, State Co-Convenor of BJP Legal Cell Punjab, expressed confidence in his leadership. He stated that Dhillon’s political experience, organizational skills and strong connection with grassroots workers would help strengthen the BJP in Punjab.
Dhingra further said he hopes that under the capable leadership of Kewal Singh Dhillon, the BJP would continue to grow in the state and make significant gains in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
“His appointment has brought new energy among party workers, especially in the Malwa belt,” he added.
Added here, Keval Singh Dhillon, who earlier served as MLA from Barnala, is known to be a close associate of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and senior BJP leader Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi. He joined the BJP in 2022 after ending his long association with the Congress party.
