Amritsar/Yuba City, June 12, 2026: A high-level delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), led by its President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, held an interaction with Sikh community leaders and members of the Punjabi diaspora in Yuba City, California, to discuss ongoing and future Sikh outreach initiatives in the United States.
Addressing the gathering, Advocate Dhami praised the contributions of Sikhs living abroad, noting their achievements and significant role in the development of their adopted countries while continuing to preserve Sikh heritage and traditions.
He announced that the SGPC is moving ahead with plans to establish a Sikh Mission Centre in Yuba City aimed at connecting younger generations with Sikh teachings, history and culture. The project is being developed on 14.5 acres of land donated by late Sikh community leader Didar Singh Bains.
Dhami said the required approvals for the proposed Sikh Mission, printing press and Gurmat Vidyalaya have already been secured, while architectural plans are currently being prepared. He added that the SGPC intends to begin work on the project soon with the support of the local Sikh community and complete it on a priority basis.
The SGPC President emphasized that the organization remains committed to strengthening ties with Sikh communities across the world. He said the proposed centre in the US would not only promote Sikh values and education but also serve as a bridge between the SGPC and Sikh congregations overseas.
Local Sikh leaders welcomed the initiative and assured their full support for the project, while also appreciating the SGPC's religious, educational and community welfare efforts.
The delegation included SGPC Senior Vice-President Raghujit Singh Virk, Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan, SGPC member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, OSD Satbir Singh, Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, and several prominent Sikh community representatives from the United States.
