Giani Raghbir Singh should be excommunicated from Panth: Nidhark Singh Brar
Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, June 15, 2026:Senior BJP leader and former Punjab State Information Commissioner Nidhark Singh Brar has issued a strong statement demanding that former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh be excommunicated from the Sikh Panth.
Brar reacted sharply to the former Jathedar’s recent appearance before a police SIT and his reported statements against Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, alleging that the remarks reflect a “decline in moral and mental integrity” and are driven by personal grievances.
He further claimed that Giani Raghbir Singh has acted against Sikh traditions and Akal Takht protocols, saying that such conduct has caused deep hurt to Sikh sentiments. Brar also referred to past controversies during Raghbir Singh’s tenure as head granthi at the Golden Temple, alleging misconduct and deviation from established religious norms.
According to Brar, Sikh tradition requires individuals to appear before the Akal Takht for moral accountability and spiritual correction, but personal biases and public statements outside religious protocol undermine the sanctity of the institution.
He also alleged that recent actions by the former Jathedar have damaged long-standing Sikh traditions and created controversy within the community, regardless of political differences.
Concluding his statement, Brar demanded that Sri Akal Takht Sahib take strict action and excommunicate Giani Raghbir Singh from the Khalsa Panth for allegedly violating religious traditions and weakening institutional sanctity.
