Panjab University's Dr Paramjit Kaur Sidhu conferred 'Bibi Jagir Kaur Sandhu Sarvotam Mahila Puraskar'

Chandigarh, July 24, 2026: Dr Paramjit Kaur Sidhu, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Punjabi at Panjab University, Chandigarh, has been honoured with the prestigious 'Bibi Jagir Kaur Sandhu Sarvotam Mahila Puraskar (2021)' by the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Academy.
The award was presented by Haryana Chief Minister at a state-level function held in Rohtak on July 23, recognising Dr Sidhu's outstanding contribution to Punjabi literature and literary criticism.
Dr Sidhu has earned widespread recognition for her scholarly work in Punjabi literary criticism. Earlier, her book Punjabi Naval: Sidhant Te Samikhia (Punjabi Novel: Theory and Criticism) received the Best Criticism Book Award (2013) from the Haryana Punjabi Sahitya Academy, Government of Haryana.
In 2019, she was also honoured with the Dr Ambedkar Sahitya Shri National Award by the Bharati Dalit Sahitya Academy for her significant contribution to Dalit literary criticism.
An accomplished academic and researcher, Dr Sidhu has authored five books, published more than 75 research papers in national and international journals, translated two books into Punjabi, and edited two scholarly volumes.
She has represented Panjab University and previously Kurukshetra University at several national and international Punjabi literary conferences, playing an active role in promoting Punjabi language, literature and literary criticism.
The award recognises Dr Sidhu's sustained academic excellence, literary scholarship and long-standing contribution to Punjabi studies. Faculty members, research scholars, students and well-wishers of the Department of Punjabi at Panjab University congratulated her on the distinguished honour.
