#BREAKING: Delhi Police Constitutes Special Task Force to Investigate Public Examination Offences Under Anti-Cheating Act

New Delhi, July 25, 2026: In a major administrative move to curb paper leaks and malpractices in competitive recruitment and entrance tests, the Delhi Police has constituted a dedicated Special Task Force (STF) under its Crime Branch to probe offenses under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
The initiative, approved by Delhi Police Commissioner, aims to enforce stringent legal action and ensure zero tolerance against organized cheating syndicates, paper leak gangs, and fraudulent activities compromising public recruitment exams.
Mandate & Scope of the Special Task Force (STF)
According to the official order, the newly set up STF will be responsible for conducting prompt, professional, and comprehensive investigations into offenses pertaining to public examinations conducted by major central recruitment and testing bodies.
The STF will have jurisdiction over examinations conducted by the following authorities:

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)
-
Staff Selection Commission (SSC)
-
Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs)
-
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS)
-
National Testing Agency (NTA)
-
Ministries or Departments of the Central Government and their attached and subordinate offices for recruitment of staff
-
Any other authority as may be notified by the Central Government from time to time
Supervision & Expedited Prosecution
The Special Task Force will operate directly under the Crime Branch. It will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crime Branch, while overall administrative supervision and direction will be exercised by the Special Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch).
In addition to conducting thorough investigations, the STF has been instructed to work closely with prosecuting agencies to facilitate day-to-day court trials, ensuring swift prosecution and stringent punishment for offenders under the provisions of the anti-cheating law.
