Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) Announces Five More Constituency In-Charges for 2027 Punjab Assembly Polls
Daljit Singh Kalsi Named for Ajnala, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala for Moga; Three Others Appointed for Gill, Kapurthala and Kotkapura

Amritsar, August 12, 2026: The Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) has announced five more constituency in-charges for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, with Bhai Daljit Singh Kalsi appointed for Ajnala, Bhai Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala for Moga, Darshan Singh Shivalik for Gill (Ludhiana), Baba Jagjit Singh (Baba Jagga) for Kapurthala, and Rashpal Singh Shoshan for Kotkapura.
The announcements were made at an important press conference held at the Amritsar Press Club on Wednesday, led by members of the party’s Parliamentary Board and Faridkot MP Bhai Sarabjit Singh Khalsa.
Parliamentary Board Coordinator S. Kabal Singh, S. Sukhwinder Singh Agwan, nephew of Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh, S. Babu Singh Brar and S. Pragat Singh were also present at the press conference.
The party said the five appointments had been made keeping in view the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections and the need to strengthen its organisational presence at the constituency level. The Parliamentary Board said Panthic initiatives and the party’s ideology had been given priority while making the selections.
The party leaders said the selection of constituency in-charges was not based merely on electoral calculations. Instead, Panthic outlook, public connect, social concerns, a background of struggle and commitment to the interests of Punjab were taken as the key criteria.
They said Bhai Daljit Singh Kalsi and Bhai Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, both associates of MP Bhai Amritpal Singh, have remained actively involved in Panthic and social activities for a long time. According to the party, both had earlier been detained in Dibrugarh Jail under the National Security Act (NSA) and are currently also facing detention in jail.
Members of the Parliamentary Board said the politics of Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) was not aimed merely at attaining political power. They said the party’s political agenda was centred on Panthic ideology, the rights of Punjab, public welfare and the struggle for a secure and better future for the coming generations of Punjab.
The leaders said the party was committed to bringing Punjab’s issues to the centre of the political agenda and ensuring that the voice of Punjab was strongly represented in the state Assembly.
The press conference was attended by several members of the party’s senior leadership, including Bibi Sandeep Kaur, Mata Swarnjit Kaur, Bhai Simranjit Singh Kalsi, Bhai Surjit Singh Daulatpur, Bhai Mahan Singh Rauke, Bhai Daler Singh Dod, Bhai Tarandeep Singh, Bhai Jagjinder Singh Bukkanwala, Bhai Jaskaran Singh Riar, Bhai Charanjit Singh Galib, Bhai Gurjinder Singh Jhander, Bhai Amandeep Singh Daduana, Bhai Shamsher Singh Padhri, Bhai Sukhbir Singh Cheema, Bhai Daya Singh, Bhai Harkamalpreet Singh, Bhai Mahinderpal Singh Tung, Bhai Jarmandeep Singh, Bhai Sukhraj Singh Sultanwind, Bhai Raminder Singh Chhapa and Bhai Jarmanjeet Singh, besides a large number of party leaders and workers.
