Chandigarh, September 8, 2026: Shiromani Akali Dal president and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has been summoned again by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Punjab Police in connection with the Behbal Kalan firing case.
According to the information available, Badal has been asked to appear before the SIT for questioning on September 11. He had earlier been summoned by the investigating team on July 20 for questioning in the case.
Confirming Badal’s appearance, SAD spokesperson and senior leader Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kaler said that the party president would appear before the SIT on September 11.
Kaler said that no matter how many times the Akali Dal or its president is summoned, their statements would remain unchanged.
Questioning the Punjab government led by the Aam Aadmi Party, Kaler asked why the Behbal Kalan firing case had still not reached a conclusion and why there had been a delay in filing the challan against those allegedly responsible.
He alleged that the government was targeting opposition leaders to divert public attention from its own failures.
Kaler maintained that the Shiromani Akali Dal stood by the truth and accused the government of avoiding action against those responsible for the incident.
