ECI apprehends national security concerns on registration of Waris Punjab De as political party, makes submission before Delhi HC

New Delhi, October 1, 2026: Election Commission of India (ECI) has expressed certain apprehensions pertaining to national security on registration of Waris Punjab De as a political party.
This submission was made by ECI Counsel Sanjay Vashisht before bench of Justice Saurabh Banerjee of Delhi High Court who was hearing petition by Waris Punjab De which had sought direction to ECI for speedy registration of outfit.
Justice Saurabh Banerjee refused to immediately pass any directions without hearing ECI.
