Chandigarh, October 28, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Wednesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of using force against people demanding justice in the Mansa incident, alleging that Punjab was witnessing “emergency-like” conditions.
Dhillon condemned the alleged use of force against the family of a youth who died following drug abuse in Bhamme Kalan village of Mansa district and others who were demanding justice. He accused the state government of resorting to repression to cover up its alleged failures in tackling drug abuse.
He alleged that the deceased youth’s body was dragged along roads, Sikh men’s turbans and kakars were disrespected, media personnel were mistreated and peaceful protesters were forcibly removed. He also claimed that several people were taken into custody.
“The government that came to power promising change has crossed all limits of repression,” Dhillon said.
Referring to the demand for justice for Parwinder Singh Jhota, Dhillon alleged that instead of addressing concerns over drug abuse, the government was cracking down on those raising their voices against the menace.
He said young people continued to fall victim to drugs and accused the AAP government of failing to contain the problem.
“Excessive oppression inevitably leads to its own downfall. The AAP government has gone too far with its repressive actions, and its end is now near,” Dhillon warned.
The BJP state president appealed to party workers and people across Punjab to stand in solidarity with Bapu Bhim Singh and other affected families in their campaign against drug abuse and their demand for justice.
