Chandigarh, November 4, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday announced a 3 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners, benefiting around eight lakh people.
Making the announcement during a press conference in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister said the pending 3 per cent DA instalment was being released with immediate effect. He described the decision as a Diwali gift for government employees and pensioners.
Emphasising the contribution of government employees to the functioning of the administration, Mann said they were the backbone of the government machinery and played a crucial role in ensuring that public services and welfare schemes reached people.
“Government employees are the backbone of our administration. Listening to people’s problems, addressing their grievances, considering new suggestions and ensuring that routine government work is completed on time are responsibilities largely carried out by employees,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the state government respected the hard work and dedication of its employees and believed that a satisfied workforce was essential for delivering better public services.
He said the decision to release the 3 per cent DA instalment was aimed at addressing a long-pending demand of employees. Mann also congratulated government employees and their families on the announcement.
The DA hike will benefit both serving government employees and pensioners, providing an increase in their monthly salaries and pensions, respectively.
Mann expressed hope that the decision would encourage employees to work with greater dedication towards the development of Punjab and the welfare of its people.
