Brampton's Sikh Society honors Lakhowal family for their contribution to farmers' movement

Surrey (Canada), July 3, 2024: Brampton's Sikh Society honored Lakhowal family for their contribution to peasant struggle during an event held at Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Center in Brampton Province, Canada.
This event was organized by Harjit Singh Mehlon EX. Member SGPC, Director Sikh Center Brampton, and Harnam Singh Guru, Director Sikh Center Brampton, in which Kuldeep Singh Kular, Kamaljit Singh, and Pawanjit Singh were also present.
During the event, Baba Bohar of Kisani Singh, Ajmer Singh Lakhowal, and State President of BKU Lakhowal S. Harinder Singh Lakhowal, Baljit Singh Ardasiye Singh Darbar Sahib were honored with Saropas.
From the last two decades, he fought the farmers' movement from time to time to save the farmers of Punjab and for the interests of the farmers.
Ajmer Singh Lakhowal put his whole life on this side. He spent 8 years in jail for the farmers. Andolan Dharna carried out many protests including march in 1972 against the Central government against wheat rate reduction, 1973 protest at Khatkar Kalan, 1974 Muktsar Maghi's Union march against single food addition, 1974 regarding electricity bills.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Harinder Singh Lakhowal led the Delhi front to cancel the three black laws imposed on the farmers by the Modi government.
