New Delhi, February 28, 2026:
The impact of the escalating US–Iran conflict reached the United Arab Emirates on Friday after an Iranian Shahed drone reportedly fell in the Jumeirah area of Dubai, close to the iconic Burj Khalifa.
Following the incident, authorities evacuated the Burj Khalifa as a precautionary measure, amid heightened security concerns. No official confirmation of casualties was immediately available.
A video of the incident was shared on social media by journalist Abhishek Jha, showing the aftermath of the drone’s fall in the densely populated area.
Military experts note that Shahed drones are among the most lethal assets in Iran’s arsenal. These precision-attack loitering munition systems operate as a hybrid between drones and cruise missiles and reportedly have a maximum range of up to 2,500 kilometres, allowing them to be launched from deep within Iranian territory or by proxy forces across the Middle East.
The incident has intensified regional anxiety, underlining concerns that the widening conflict could spill further into Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, a key international and commercial hub.
