Ludhiana, April 19, 2024 - According to the guidelines issued by Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Sakshi Sahni, the teams formed for the prevention of child marriage have been investigating child marriage in blocks, Anganwadi centers, schools, colleges, slum areas, and other different places. It may be mentioned that according to the orders of Deputy Commissioner Sahni, a meeting was also held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana regarding the prevention of child marriage in which Assistant Labor Commissioner and Labor Inspector from Labor Department, ACP from Police Department and DSP District Program Officer of Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, District Child Protection Officer, Deputy DEO from Education Department, besides the Secondary and Elementary, officers of various departments were also present.
Three separate teams for the prevention of child marriage were formed for Khanna, Jagrao and Ludhiana City.
The supervisors and Anganwadi workers under Child Development Project Officers visited Blocks, Anganwadi Centers, Schools, Colleges, Slum Areas and various other places on yesterday 18th April and today 19th April to spread awareness for the prevention of child marriage and people were told that the age of the girl should not be less than 18 years and the age of the boy should not be less than 21 years for marriage. If any family is found marrying minor children then their family members will face a fine of Rs.1 lakh and imprisonment for 2 years and the party involved in conducting the marriage such as the owner of the marriage palace, halwai, tent house, action will also be taken against Pandits, Padris, Pathis, printing press, band party, decorators etc. who conduct Anand Karza in Gurdwara Sahib.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni has issued these strict instructions to the concerned parties that whenever a person contacts for marriage booking, they must first verify the age of the boy and girl.
Apart from this, swearing ceremony was also conducted with children in government and non-government schools and the district level team of District Ludhiana including Inspector Narinder Kumar (Punjab Police), Mubeen Qureshi (Security Officer Ludhiana IC) for the eradication of child marriage. , Amandeep Kaur (Child Protection Officer (NIC), Deepak Kumar (Legal Officer Ludhiana) Prabhajit Singh (Education Department Sec), Sandeep Singh (Child Protection Movement), Baljit Singh and Anil Kumar (Labour Department) and Naresh Garg (Labor Inspector). , Lovepreet Singh (Social Worker) were also involved.
