Padma Shri Dr. Rattan Singh Jaggi’s Bhog and Antim Ardas, to be held on June 1

Patiala (Punjab), May 30, 2025: The Bhog and Antim Ardas of Padma Shri Dr. Rattan Singh Jaggi, a towering literary figure and national scholar who authored over 150 seminal works in Punjabi and Hindi literature, will be held on June 1.
Born on July 27, 1927, Dr. Jaggi was a celebrated academician, revered for his deep scholarship in Gurmat and Bhakti movement literature.
He retired as Professor and Head of the Punjabi Literary Studies Department at Punjabi University, Patiala, and remained an active contributor to Indian literary heritage well into his late 90s.

A recipient of the Padma Shri in 2023, Dr. Jaggi was widely respected for his authoritative works such as the "Bhav Prabodhini Tika – Sri Guru Granth Sahib", the "Dasam Granth Da Tika", and encyclopedic contributions including the "Guru Granth Vishavkosh" and "Sikh Panth Vishavkosh".
His Antim Ardas will be a moment for scholars, literary admirers, and devotees alike to pay homage to a life dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of India's spiritual and literary treasures.
