From Books to the Cosmos: Mohali teen Manandeep Singh felicitated on I-Day

SAS Nagar (Punjab), August 15, 2025 — In a proud moment for Mohali district, Manandeep Singh, son of Dr. Sarabdeep Singh (Assistant Director, Animal Husbandry Department), was honoured at the district-level Independence Day function held on August 15, 2025, by the District Administration of SAS Nagar.
Manandeep, a bright student and budding astrophotographer, has made remarkable achievements at a young age. In 9th grade, he authored a book on ISRO, reflecting his deep interest in space science. He also secured 30th rank in the National Space Science Olympiad, earning recognition from the country’s top institutions.
In recognition of his talent, ISRO Chairman and Secretary, Department of Space, Shri S. Somanath, personally felicitated him. He has also been honoured by the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.
Apart from academics, Manandeep’s passion for photography has also brought him laurels. He received an Appreciation Medal in the Snap India National Photography Contest, and notably, his photograph of a partial solar eclipse was published in a leading UK-based Amateur Astrophotography Magazine.
Adding to his long list of accomplishments, Manandeep excelled academically as well, scoring an impressive 97% marks in his 10th board examinations.District officials praised Manandeep as a shining example for youth, highlighting how his dedication, creativity, and pursuit of excellence can inspire others.
