Chandigarh, March 12, 2025: Chandigarh University, India’s number 1 private university, has yet again shined in the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subjects-2025 by securing top ranking in five subjects -- Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Chemistry -- reaffirming its global reputation for academic excellence.
Chandigarh University has also ranked among world’s top 250 Universities in the fields of Engineering and Technology as well as Social Science and Management.
In Social Science and Management, while Chandigarh University was ranked number 1 in India among private universities, it was placed among the world’s top 250 universities in this broad subject area.In the Engineering and Technology, Chandigarh University also secured 2nd rank among private universities in India and 231st in the world.
Showing solid reputation in engineering fields, Chandigarh University’s Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering programs were ranked 3rd among private universities in India.
In Computer Science Engineering, Chandigarh University secured the 3rd rank among private universities in India with overall score of 57.6.
Chandigarh University ranks between 301-350 in the world. The Chandigarh University’s Academic Reputation, which reflects academic prowess, score is 44.3, while the Employer Reputation, which indicates a university's strong standing among employers, score is 67.0. With 73.3 points in Citations, Chandigarh University demonstrated a significant impact and quality in research.Additionally, it achieved 60.8 points in the H-Index, highlighting the institution's scholarly output and influence.
In Mechanical Engineering, Chandigarh University was ranked 3rd among private universities in India with overall score of 60.3. Chandigarh University’s rankings in this subject are within the range of 401-450 in the world by scoring 45.6 in Academic Reputation, 63.9 in Employer Reputation, 68.6 in Citations, 54.3 in H-index and 55.4 in IRN (Industry Research Network).
In Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Chandigarh University’s was ranked 4th among private universities in India. With overall score of 55.5, the university was globally ranked within the range of 401-450.
In this subject, Chandigarh University scored, 45.6 in Academic Reputation while the Employer Reputation score stands at 63.9. In terms of citations, the score is 68.6, and the H-index is 54.3. Additionally, the IRN (Industry Research Network) score is 55.4.
In Business Management and Chandigarh University was ranked 4th among private universities in India. Chandigarh University ranks between 401-450 in the world, with an overall score of 58.0.The university’s Academic Reputation score stands at 50.3, while the Employer Reputation score is 65.6. In Citations, the CU’s score is 63.3 and it’s 67.9 for H-index.
Making debut in the QS Subject Wise rankings for Chemistry, Chandigarh University was ranked 9th among private universities in India in Chemistry.
The University’s rankings fall within the range of 551-600 in the world with an overall score of 51.7. The academic reputation score is 54.0, while the employer reputation score is 70.0. In terms of citations, the score is 51.6, and the H-index stands at 36.0. Additionally, the IRN (Industry Research Network) score is 29.4.
In global rankings, Chandigarh University has achieved significant improvement, with its ranking for Engineering and Technology rising from 342 in 2023 and 332 in 2024 to 231 in 2025. Social Sciences and Management saw an impressive jump, moving from 318 in 2024 to 249 in 2025.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 which are based on comprehensive analysis of the reputation and research output of over 5,200 institutions across 148 locations across the world.
Globally, Chandigarh University has made remarkable strides in the field of Engineering and Technology, advancing over 100 positions to secure the 231st spot with an impressive Overall Score of 68.3 out of 100.
The university's performance in this domain stands out, showcasing excellence across all five key ranking criteria. It earned 62.6 points in Academic Reputation, reflecting its academic prowess, and an impressive 82 points in Employer Reputation, indicating the university's strong standing among employers.
With 74 points in Citations, Chandigarh University demonstrated a significant impact and quality in research. Additionally, it achieved 56.4 points in the H-Index, highlighting the institution's scholarly output and influence.
In Social Sciences and Management, Chandigarh University jumped 69 places to secure 249th rank in 2025 rankings as compared to 318 in 2024 by scoring 65 points in Academic Reputation, impressive 82.5 in Employer Reputation, 59.4 in Citations, 53.6 in H-index ,38.1 in the International Research Network (IRN) and the overall score of 67.6 for the field.
