Punjab Government is taking the education sector to new heights: Sandhwan
Kotkapura, April 9, 2025: In the second phase of the "Punjab Sikhya Kranti – A Changing Punjab campaign, Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, inaugurated various development projects in the schools of village Deviwala, village Sirsari, and village Kotsukhia.
Addressing gatherings at different schools, Speaker Sandhwan stated that the only aim of the state government under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is to make Punjab a happy, prosperous, and progressive state. He emphasized that this vision can only be realized by empowering the future generation through quality education. With this goal in mind, and the intent to provide affordable and high-standard education to every child, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Shri Arvind Kejriwal have initiated large-scale development work in schools as part of the Education Revolution.
He highlighted that the current government is the first to allocate a major portion of the state budget to education and healthcare.
Sandhwan mentioned that the Punjab Government is consistently bringing significant reforms and development in the education sector. As a result, more parents now prefer to enroll their children in government schools. He noted that students from government schools are excelling in competitive examinations. He further assured that the state will continue to invest heavily in education and that government schools are now being equipped with better facilities than private schools, including computer labs, digital blackboards, modern science labs, and improved infrastructure.
He added that head teachers and faculty from government schools are also being trained abroad. Parents are pleased to see their children being taught and guided by IAS and IPS officers. He expressed gratitude to those parents who placed their trust in the Punjab Government and chose to enroll their children in government schools.
Sandhwan informed that today, development works worth Rs. 54.40 lakhs were inaugurated at the Government High School in Deviwala village. These include three modern classrooms, one science laboratory, a library, and a newly constructed washroom. At the Government Primary School in Deviwala, a washroom worth Rs. 1.13 lakhs and classrooms costing Rs. 7.51 lakhs were inaugurated.
Similarly, at the Government Primary School in Sirsari, a washroom was renovated for Rs. 1.40 lakhs. At the Government Middle School in Sirsari, development projects worth Rs. 3.40 lakhs were undertaken, including building repairs (Rs. 2 lakhs) and washroom renovations (Rs. 1.40 lakhs).
At the Government Primary School in Kot Sukhia, a boundary wall was constructed for Rs. 2.45 lakhs, a girls' washroom at Rs. 1.13 lakhs, and a shed at Rs. 60,000. Similarly, at the Government Senior Secondary School in Kot Sukhia, projects worth approximately Rs. 30 lakhs were completed, including a new science lab (Rs. 11 lakhs), washroom repairs (Rs. 1.40 lakhs), boundary wall repairs (Rs. 2 lakhs), new boundary wall construction (Rs. 14.35 lakhs), and a kitchen shed (Rs. 2.23 lakhs).
On this occasion, school staff and students also extended their gratitude to the Chief Minister of Punjab for the development being carried out in the education sector. Pradeep Deora Dy.DEO and others were also present.
