Chandigarh University's Sporting Talent to Shine on Global Stage; 25 Students Selected for FISU World University Games - 2025 in Germany

Mohali (Punjab), June 3, 2025: Shining bright in the firmament of sports, 25 students from Chandigarh University have been selected to represent India at Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games which are scheduled to take place in Germany from July 16 to July 27 this year.
With this Chandigarh University has become the private university with the second-highest representation in India to send one of the largest contingents of athletes to the World University Games.
The FISU World University Games which are organized biennially by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) is world’s largest multi-sport event for student athletes after Olympic Games. In this year’s edition more than 8,500 athletes and officials from over 150 countries will compete across 18 sporting disciplines.
Showcasing Chandigarh University’s growing dominance in university-level sports, Chandigarh University's students will be representing the nation in eight sporting disciplines including table tennis, athletics, swimming, archery, judo, fencing, rowing and volleyball.
Chandigarh University's students Divyansh Srivastava, Syed Ali Abbas, Ananya Chande will vie for medals in Table Tennis, Priya, Tanushree, Tanya, Vanshika, Sawan, Sanjay Kumar will showcase their sporting talent in athletics, Yash S Ghangas in Judo, Aditya Dubey, Anurag Singh, Harsh Saroha in Swimming, Sakshi Dubey in Volleyball, Avneet Kaur in Archery, Rahul, Lokesh in Fencing, Vishal, Rohit Bedwal, Rajat Kumar, Ankit, Saurabh, Harvinder Singh Cheema will represent the nation in Rowing.
Ananya has made India and CU proud by winning three gold medals at South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship 2025 held recently in Kathmandu, Nepal. She is ranked 8th in the under-19 category in India and 303rd in the world rankings.
Similarly, Divyansh Srivastava has performed brilliantly and won gold and silver medals in the All-India Inter-Zonal Championship, South Asian Youth Championship, Khelo India University Games, National Games and All India Inter University competitions. Syed Ali Abbas has also won silver medals in the Khelo India University Games and All India Inter Zonal Table Tennis Championships.
Eight students from Chandigarh University have been selected in athletics including Priya, Tanushree, Tanya, Vanshika, Savan, Sanjay Kumar, Rahul and Shiksha.
Tanya has won gold and silver medals in the All India Inter University, National Open Games and Khelo India University Games. Shiksha has won gold medals in the All India Inter University and Under-23 National and Open Throw Championships.
Vanshika has won gold and silver medals in the 38th and 39th Junior National Athletics Championships and Inter University competitions. Savan and Sanjay Kumar have also performed remarkably in national competitions. Priya has participated in the Indian Open and Open Throw Championships.
Harsh Saroha, Aditya Dubey and Anurag Singh will represent India in swimming. Harsh has won one gold medal in All India Inter University Games, two gold medals in Khelo India University Games and several other gold and bronze medals in National Games.
Aditya Dubey has won two gold and one silver medal, while Anurag Singh has won three silver and one bronze medal in inter-university competitions. Vishal, Rohit Bedwal, Rajat Kumar, Ankit, Saurabh and Harvinder Singh Cheema will represent the nation in rowing.
Rower, Rohit Bedwal won two Gold medals and one Bronze medal in All India Inter University Rowing Championship 2024-25.He also won 2 Gold medals and 1 Bronze in All India Inter University Rowing Championship 2023-24.
Vishal has won Gold and Silver medals in All India Inter University Rowing Championship 2024-25. Rajat has also won two Gold and one Bronze medals in All India Inter University, Rowing Championship 2024-25.
Similarly, Saurabh won two Gold and one Bronze medal in All India Inter University Rowing Championship 2024 while in All India Inter University Rowing Championship 2025 he won one Gold, Silver and Bronze medal each. He also won Gold and Silver medal in 7th Indoor National Rowing Championship 2024 held in Moga.
Rower Ankit has also won one gold medal, one silver medal and one bronze medal in the All India Inter University Rowing Championship 2024-25.
Harvinder Singh Cheema has also won two gold medals, one silver and a bronze medal in the All India Inter University Rowing Championship 2024-25. He has also won a bronze medal in the 37th National Games Rowing Championship 2023-24.
