Chandigarh University organizes 5th International Book Exhibition showcasing over 25,000 books
Books, Culture and Cyber Awareness Take Center Stage at Chandigarh University’s 5th International Book Exhibition

Mohali (Punjab, October 17, 2025: The 5th International Book Exhibition was organized at Chandigarh University witnessed an overwhelming response from students, faculty members and book enthusiasts.
The two-day event showcased over 25000 books by authors from around the world, spanning a diverse range of subjects including literature, science, technology, management, humanities, social sciences and emerging technologies.
The exhibition featured participation from over 30 national and international publishers and booksellers and more than 30 stalls were set up, each drawing keen interest from the visitors.

Arun Soni, a globally acclaimed author who has penned more than 182 books, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr Satbir Singh Sehgal, Registrar of Chandigarh University were present on the occasion along with Dr Prem Prakash Satti, Chief Librarian, Chandigarh University, Anju Chauhan, Senior Librarian Chandigarh University and faculty members and students from different departments also marked their presence.
Speaking during an Author Talk session on Cyber Security, renowned author and Limca Book Record holder for writing maximum books on computer, Arun Soni said, “We are living in the digital age where almost everything, including financial transactions are done online. It is crucial to remain vigilant against cybercrimes by staying informed about cyber frauds and preventive measures.”
He exhorted participants to take simple yet effective precautions. Soni who is the author of 182 books on cyber security, computer science and technology and Certified Ethical Hacker added, “Regularly change your Wi-Fi password to prevent unauthorized access. A hacker sitting anywhere in the world can exploit your home router to steal personal or banking information within minutes. Awareness and adherence to cyber safety norms are the only shields against such crimes.”
Dr SS Sehgal, Registrar Chandigarh University while emphasizing the enduring importance of books in shaping minds, said, “In this digital age, It is a challenging task to connect today’s young generation with their heritage and history. Today, books are available online, but at Chandigarh University, we want our students to hold books in their hands not just mobile phones. As reading habits decline, exhibitions like this play a vital role in rekindling students’ interest in books.”
Sehgal added, “This exhibition reminds us how essential books are to our lives. Another key objective of the exhibition is to strengthen the bond between students and their mother tongue. The university is ensuring that books in Punjabi, Hindi and other regional languages are easily accessible in the library.”
Dr Sehgal also announced the creation of a special corner in the University library dedicated to India’s real gems, such as astronaut Kalpana Chawla, highlighting their achievements and spirit of service to the nation.
On the concluding day, the exhibition came alive with cultural vibrancy as students and staff participated in various competitions, including dance, singing, music and turban-tying contests. The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates.
