Chandigarh, November 12, 2025: To address the ongoing dispute over the Panjab University Senate elections, Vice Chancellor (VC) held a crucial meeting today with representatives of the protesting students. Following the discussion, the students stated that while the VC patiently heard their concerns, they would continue their protest until the university announces the election dates.
According to official sources, the meeting took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, aimed at easing tensions that had escalated after the major demonstration on November 10.
It may be recalled that the Central Government had earlier, on October 28, issued a notification to dissolve the Senate and Syndicate of Panjab University. Following widespread opposition from students and political parties, the Centre subsequently withdrew the order.
However, student groups, particularly members of the “PU Bachao Morcha,” remain firm in their demand for an immediate announcement of election dates for all 91 Senate seats. They reiterated after the meeting that their agitation will continue until concrete action is taken.
