Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Commemorates 76th Constitution Day with Grand Ceremony

Fatehgarh Sahib, 26 Nov 2025- The University School of Law (USoL) celebrated the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution with a solemn and inspiring ceremony today. The event was held under the esteemed guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, and Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean, University School of Law. The occasion was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Raj Shekhar Attri, Former Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court and President of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, UT Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, Justice Attri took the audience through the making of the Indian Constitution, highlighting the sacrifices, visionary debates, and dedication of the founding fathers. He emphasized the Constitution as a living testament to India’s democratic spirit, capable of guiding the nation through evolving challenges. Justice Attri also drew parallels between the teachings of Sikh Gurus and constitutional provisions on fundamental rights, presenting the Constitution as both a legal framework and a moral compass for the world’s largest democracy. Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean of USoL, in her opening remarks, highlighted the enduring relevance of constitutional values in legal education and professional practice. She stressed the significance of the Preamble and Fundamental Duties in shaping future legal professionals. In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh urged students to be mindful of both their rights and duties, emphasizing that a robust democracy is founded on responsible citizenship. He lauded the Department for organising the event and specifically appreciated Dr. Navneet, Convener of the event, for her dedication in orchestrating the program. He also commended faculty coordinators Ms. Prabhjot Kaur and Ms. Gurleen Kaur, and students for their enthusiastic participation, which contributed to the seamless execution of the program. The ceremony was further attended by Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. (Dr.) Tejbir Singh, Registrar, Dr. Sikander Singh, Dean Student Welfare, and Ms. Bhoomika Singla. During the event, the department unveiled the title cover of its upcoming edited book on Constitutional Law. The 76th Constitution Day celebration served as a powerful reminder of India’s foundational values, leaving a lasting impression on attendees and reinforcing their commitment to Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.
