CEC-CGC Landran selected as Nodal Center for Smart India Hackathon 2025-Software Edition

Chandigarh, 3 Dec 2025- Chandigarh Engineering College (CEC)-CGC Landran has been selected as an official Nodal Center for the ‘Grand Finale’ of the ‘Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 - Software Edition,’ the flagship innovation event being organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and partner organizations on December 08-09, 2025. CEC-CGC Landran is one of the only three institutions from Punjab to have been designated as Nodal Centers, among a total of 60 pan India. It is worth mentioning that this is the seventh year of CEC-CGC Landran being selected to host this prestigious national-level competition. CEC-CGC Landran will host 25 teams, comprising over 200 students and mentors from across India. As a nodal center, CGC Landran will witness these teams code for 36 continuous hours, with promising young innovators working on problem statements given by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Punjab.
SIH 2025 aims to connect academic learning with practical application by encouraging innovation and problem-solving. This national-level Hackathon is recognized as one of the largest open innovation platforms, engaging students nationwide to address real-world problem statements provided by ministries, government departments and industry partners. It provides a dynamic platform for students to develop and showcase their creative solutions to real-world problems. By encouraging participants to think critically and innovatively, the Hackathon aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application.
Commenting on the milestone, Dr. Rajdeep Singh Campus Director, CGC Landran stated, “We are honoured to once again serve as a Nodal Center for the Grand Finale of SIH 2025- Software Edition. Hosting this prestigious event for the seventh year is not only a matter of immense pride for us but also reflects our institution’s continued commitment to fostering the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among students.” Since its inception in 2017, SIH has provided students with opportunities to work on challenges relevant to society and industry. The 2025 edition of SIH continues this approach, offering participants a platform to develop software-driven solutions with positive societal impact.
