Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organizes five-day workshop on ‘AI Tools in Education’

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), July 11, 2026: The Department of Education, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, organized a five-day workshop on “AI Tools in Education” for B.A.-B.Ed. students.
The workshop aimed to equip future teachers with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively integrate Artificial Intelligence into teaching, learning, and assessment.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh stated that Artificial Intelligence is opening new dimensions in the field of education.
He emphasized that, alongside pedagogical competence, digital proficiency and AI literacy have become essential for future teachers so that they can use technology responsibly and creatively.
The resource person for the workshop, Dr. Amandeep Virk, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, introduced participants to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, prompt engineering, and the ethical use of AI. Students gained practical experience in using platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot to prepare lesson plans, presentations, worksheets, quizzes, and other teaching resources.
During the hands-on sessions conducted under the guidance of Dr. Harneet Billing, Head, Department of Education and Workshop Convener, participants developed AI-based teaching resources and presented AI-integrated lesson plans and educational projects.
Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Co-coordinator of the workshop, appreciated the active participation of the students throughout the programme. Dr. Harneet Billing remarked that such initiatives play a significant role in preparing technologically proficient and innovative teachers in accordance with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
