Chandigarh, July 11, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Punjab Congress following the conclusion of a series of meetings held by Congress affairs in-charge Bhupesh Baghel, alleging that the party's week-long political exercise ended without any result and exposed its internal divisions.
Reacting to the developments in the Punjab Congress, AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu said the Congress had spent an entire week engaged in political discussions but failed to arrive at any meaningful conclusion.
"The Congress's week-long political drama has finally ended without any change, exposing the party's internal confusion and lack of direction," Pannu said in a video statement.
Clarifying that AAP had no concern with the Congress's internal organisational matters, Pannu said the prolonged political developments had dominated public discourse in Punjab over the past several days.
"Who the Congress appoints to any position or how it manages its internal affairs is entirely its own matter. The Aam Aadmi Party has no interest in it. However, for the past several days, Punjab has witnessed nothing but political theatre, with meetings and speculation dominating breakfast, lunch and dinner discussions," he said.
Taking a swipe at Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel, Pannu remarked that it appeared as though the senior leader had visited Punjab merely to hold meetings without producing any tangible outcome.
"It appeared as though Bhupesh Baghel had come to Punjab for a holiday, spending several days in meetings only to return with the situation exactly as it was before. After days of political discussions and high-level meetings, the Congress failed to reach any meaningful conclusion, reflecting the deep divisions within the party," he said.
Pannu also made a sarcastic remark, saying, "Someone jokingly told me that Bhupesh Baghel left for Delhi immediately after learning that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had returned to Punjab."
Contrasting the Congress with the ruling AAP government, Pannu said while the opposition party remained preoccupied with internal power struggles, the Bhagwant Mann-led government was focused on governance and public welfare.
"The Congress remains occupied with infighting and power struggles, while the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is focused on governance and working for the welfare of the people of Punjab. The people of Punjab are closely watching the Congress's internal conflicts and understand which party is genuinely committed to serving the state," he added.
The remarks came shortly after Congress affairs in-charge Bhupesh Baghel concluded consultations with senior Punjab Congress leaders in Chandigarh, where he dismissed reports of factionalism and maintained that there was "no resentment" within the party, adding that concerns raised by leaders would be conveyed to the Congress high command.
