Chandigarh, October 21, 2026: The Punjab Education Department has issued an order addressing pay parity and other service-related issues of 180 ETT TET-Pass teachers, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said on Wednesday.
Cheema, who heads the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to resolve employees’ grievances, personally handed over a copy of the official order to representatives of the ETT TET-Pass Adhiyapak Union.
The order, issued by the Directorate of School Education (Elementary), approves salary fixation in accordance with Finance Department instructions and relevant judicial precedents. It also records that an inquiry officer, a former Additional District and Sessions Judge, has been appointed to examine issues concerning financial benefits and appointment parity dating back to 2016.
Following the development, Cheema held meetings with several teachers’ unions and education-related organisations to discuss their pending demands. He assured the representatives that the Cabinet Sub-Committee was coordinating with the concerned departments to address genuine grievances in a fair and time-bound manner.
During the meetings, the ETT TET-Pass Berozgar Adhiyapak Union (Punjab) sought advertisements and recruitment against vacant ETT cadre posts. The Berozgar B.Ed. TET-Pass Adhiyapak Union raised recruitment-related demands, while the Berozgar Special Educator Front called for completion of pending recruitment drives.
The Special Cadre Adhiyapak Front sought implementation of regular pay scales, framing of service rules, leave benefits and promotion opportunities for contractual and special-cadre teachers. The ETT 2364 Berozgar Adhiyapak Union demanded the release of remaining waiting lists and station allocation or transfer opportunities for selected candidates.
The NSQF Vocational Teachers Front urged the government to bring vocational teachers out of private company contracts and engage them directly under the department on regular terms. The Berozgar Librarian Front sought advertisements to fill vacant school librarian posts.
Meanwhile, representatives of Lecturer Bharti Punjab, associated with Lecturer Recruitment 1067, sought examinations for the remaining five subjects to complete the recruitment process. The ETT TET-Pass 5994 Backlog Adhiyapak Union demanded appointment letters for the remaining candidates and the de-reservation and filling of pending backlog posts.
Cheema also met representatives of the B.Ed. TET-Pass Berozgar Adhiyapak Union, Murh Bahal Kachhe Adhiyapak Union and Berozgar PSTET Pass Art and Craft Sangharsh Union to hear their concerns.
The Finance Minister said the government was examining the representations received from the unions and would work with the relevant departments to address their demands.
