Teeyan Festival’s grand celebration at DSCW in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, August 20, 2024: Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur, organized the Teeyan Festival on its campus, by the Postgraduate Punjabi Department and the Youth Welfare Department to promote Punjabi culture and connect the younger generation with their roots.
Principal Dr. Sangeeta emphasized the importance of such festivals in preserving heritage and fostering joy and enthusiasm in life. She stated that festivals like Teeyan rejuvenate our spirits and inspire us to live life to the fullest while connecting us to our cultural roots. She highlighted the college's commendable efforts to keep the new generation connected with their traditions, considering it a moral responsibility to pass on these values to future generations.
The event saw the active participation of Mrs Palwinder Kaur, Dean of Youth Welfare, and Mrs Navdeep Kaur, Head of the Punjabi Department, who played key roles in making the celebration a success.
The program featured cultural performances by the students, including folk songs, tappas, folk dances, and giddha, all related to the Teeyan festival. The event also showcased a vibrant cultural exhibition adorned with traditional artefacts and handicrafts by the Fashion Designing Department, and the Home Science and Nutrition Departments presented an exhibition of nutritious and healthy food items.
The celebration was further enriched with stalls offering traditional delicacies like kheer, Malpas, jalebis, and pakoras, adding to the festive atmosphere. The students thoroughly enjoyed the festival, which proved to be a lively and heartwarming documentation of life.
