New Delhi/Chandigarh, May 4, 2026: In a significant organizational move, the All India Mahila Congress has removed Gursharan Kaur from the post of President of the Punjab Mahila Congress. Baljit Kaur, a Municipal Councilor from Mohali, has been appointed as the Acting President of the Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress with immediate effect.
The appointment orders were formally issued by Alka Lamba, the National President of the All India Mahila Congress.
Baljit Kaur will serve in this capacity until the final announcement of a permanent new President is made.
The party high command has expressed confidence that Baljit Kaur will be successful in strengthening the Mahila Congress organization across Punjab.
This leadership change comes as the party seeks to revitalize its women's wing in the state. By appointing a grassroots leader like Baljit Kaur, the Congress leadership aims to bolster its presence and influence among women voters in Punjab.
