Chandigarh, May 4, 2026: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday directed all District Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure time-bound completion of development works under the Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme, stressing that there should be no delay in Phase One projects across districts.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with DCs and senior officers of concerned departments, Cheema reviewed the progress of ongoing works and issued strict instructions to accelerate implementation on the ground.
The Finance Minister said Phase Two of the scheme must begin immediately without any administrative delay, ensuring continuity of development momentum across Punjab. He also directed officials to maintain detailed and transparent reporting of all projects.
Taking serious note of delays in some districts, Cheema warned that Phase One works that have not started must be initiated immediately and completed within a fixed timeframe, failing which strict action will be taken.
He further instructed DCs to carry out regular field visits to personally monitor the quality and pace of development works at the ground level.
To strengthen oversight, Additional Chief Secretary Jaspreet Talwar directed that all project updates must be uploaded on the official portal on a daily basis to ensure transparency and real-time monitoring of progress.
