Chandigarh's Kalagram ready for Bihar Diwas celebrations

Preparations for the Bihar Diwas celebrations are in full swing in the Union Territory by the Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter of the Bihar Foundation. The Bihar Diwas celebrations, which will be celebrated on March 22, are being organized at Kalagram in Mani Majra, Chandigarh. Ten eminent Biharis of this region will also be honoured for their achievements in the event.
The Chairman of the Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter of Bihar Foundation, Dr. Rupesh Singh said that Bihar came into existence as a new state in 1912 during the British rule, separating from the then Bengal province. That historic date was March 22 and in its honor, this day is celebrated as Bihar Diwas every year.
Himmat Singh, Chairman, Haryana Staff Selection Commission and Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, will be Guests of Honour in this event to be held on Saturday from 12 to 2.30 pm.
Giving information about the event, Chapter Secretary Binay Shankar Jha also said that cultural presentations will be given in the program in which folk songs of Bihar can be enjoyed. Bihar's popular food Litti Chokha and sweets will remind them of home and apart from this, handicraft products of the state will also be given space by setting up 12 stalls, in which Bhagalpuri silk and Mithila painting will be given special space and the participating guests will also be able to buy it.
Vice Chairman, Bihar Foundation, Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter, Neeraj Singh said that many people also call Bihar 'Green Bihar'. To strengthen this sense of attachment towards the environment, saplings will be given as gift to the people participating in the Bihar Diwas program and Tree Ambulance will also be stationed by Jai Shree Krishna Jai Madhusudan Trust Founder, Prabhu Nath Shahi.
Treasurer, Pallav Kumar said that books and literature of Bihar to promote investment, tourism, art and culture will also be distributed among the audience.
It is noteworthy that the Bihar Foundation is an initiative of the Government of Bihar, whose purpose is to further strengthen the connection between the people of the Bihari community living outside the state around the world and their home state and to establish a bridge between them.
