Chandigarh: Night Curfew imposed; Educational Institutions closed; Read all restrictions imposed
Chandigarh, January 6, 2022: Chandigarh Administration has imposed several restrictions in view of deteriorating COVID situation.
After detailed discussions in the War Room meeting, the following decisions were taken :-
1. Movement of individuals for all the non-essential activities shall remain prohibited between 10.00 P.M. to 5.00 AM. However essential activities including emergency services, medical health, transport of essential goods, operation of multiple shifts in industries, offices etc, (both Government and private), movement of persons and goods on National and State Highways and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains and Airplanes will be permitted. Detailed prohibitory orders u/s 144 CrPC would be issued by the DM Chandigarh.
2. All Educational Institutions including schools, colleges universities, coaching institutions etc. shall remain closed. However, these institutions will maintain the academic schedule through online teaching. However, medical and nursing colleges may continue to function normally in offline mode.
3. All Government offices in Chandigarh will xcept essential services/ departments will function with physical attendance of 50% capacity of actual strength with regard to Group C & D staff. The rest of the 50% staff would be required to work from home. All the concerned head of offices would devise roster to implement the same. The essential departments include Health, Revenue, Municipal Corporation, Police etc. Services of any staff of UT administration can be utilized in these essential services/departments.
4. All Private offices to also function with 50% staff and rest would be required to work from home.
5. All Bars, Cinema Halls, Multiplexes, Malls, Restaurants, Spas, Museums,etc. shall be allowed to operate at 50% of their capacity subject to all staff present being fully vaccinated.
6. All Sports complexes (except for contact-less sports) swimming pools, Gyms shall remain closed except being used for training of sports persons for participation in National/International sports events as well as for organizing National/International sports events. No Spectators or visitors are to be allowed in these sports complexes.
7. Gathering for any purpose should be restricted to 50 persons for indoor and 100 persons for outdoor. However, the total number of persons shall not exceed 50% of the capacity in both indoor and outdoor gatherings.
8. In Sabzi Mandi of Sector 26 only rehdiwalas/vendors to be allowed with the condition that all are fully vaccinated and No entry for retail customer/general public shall be allowed w.e.f. 10.01.2022.
9. Palika Bazar and Sadar Bazar of Sector 19, Patel Market in Sector 15, Shastri Market and mobile marketin Sector 22, Krishna Market in Sector 41 and all Apni Mandis to close by 05.00 PM.
The Administrator appealed the citizens to strictly follow the Covid protocol by wearing masks, maintain social distance and hand hygiene.

Hundred percent of 15 to 18 years of population be administered the first dose of vaccine within a month and simultaneously, in the same period the eligible 18 plus be jabbed for the second dose, said the Administrator and added that the vaccination may be carried out at the war footing.
It has been brought to my notice that most of the testing burden as of now is on PGI which needs to be rationally divided among various health facilities, said Purohit and directed that by the end of the month the testing facility for RTPCR tests be made functional at GMSH 16. Creating testing infrastructure in hospitals in Sector 22,45 and Manimajara may also be explored, Purohit directed the Secretary Health.
Administrator expressed serious concern about a number of doctors of PGIMER who have come positive in past few days and at the behest of the Director approved the permission of Tele-consultation as well as to put on hold the elective surgeries till further notice.
Incomplete COVID testing data updation on the requisite portal resulting in projection of high-positivity rate was taken up very seriously by the Administrator. “ Incorrect data can cause undue panic in Public; it obstructs research of scientists working on different aspects of the third wave of pandemic and it will mandate imposition of uncalled for restrictions,” said Purohit and directed the health authorities to rope in more data entry operators for immediate uploading of data on the portal.
Earlier, he reviewed the medical infrastructure availability in the city, oxygen supply, beds availability etc . and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
It was informed that Mohali has 603 active cases, Panchkula has 372 active cases while UT, Chandigarh has 665 active cases. There are 46 containment zones in Chandigarh presently.
