Chandigarh announces traffic diversions near major temples on Sept 4

Chandigarh, September 4, 2026: In view of Janmashtami celebrations, the Chandigarh Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory announcing restrictions and regulated movement on key roads near major temples in the city.
The traffic arrangements will remain in force from 12 noon on September 4, 2026, to 1 am on September 5, 2026, to ensure the safety of devotees and facilitate smooth traffic movement during the celebrations.
Traffic Restrictions Near ISKCON Temple, Sector 36
Traffic movement on Dakshin Marg, between Sector 22/23-35/36 Chowk (Kissan Bhawan Chowk) and Sector 23/24-36/37 Chowk (Batra Chowk), will be restricted and regulated during the event.
Traffic Arrangements Near Sector 20 Temples
Traffic will also be regulated on the road stretch between the Sector 20/21 Light Point and Sector 20/30 Light Point.
The Chandigarh Traffic Police has advised commuters and motorists to plan their journeys in advance and use alternate routes during the specified hours.
The department has appealed to the public to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow the restrictions to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of Janmashtami celebrations. It also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused due to the traffic arrangements.
