Breaking: Centre appoints six 1995-batch IPS officers as Special DGs in CRPF, BSF, CISF and IB

New Delhi, September 3, 2026: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of six 1995-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to senior positions in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Intelligence Bureau (IB).
The appointments include three officers as Special Director General (Special DG) in the CRPF and BSF, one as Special DG in the CISF and one as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau.
Sandeep Khirwar Appointed Special DG, CRPF
Sandeep Khirwar, IPS (HY:1995), currently serving as Additional Director General (ADG), CRPF, has been appointed Special Director General, CRPF.
His appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge and continue until May 31, 2033, or until further orders.
Puneet Rastogi Appointed Special DG, BSF
Puneet Rastogi, IPS (TR:1995), presently ADG, BSF, has been appointed Special Director General, BSF. He will hold the position from the date of assumption of charge until June 30, 2030, or until further orders.
Satish Khandare Appointed Special DG, BSF
Satish Shriramaji Khandare, IPS (AGMUT:1995), currently ADG, BSF, has also been appointed Special Director General, BSF. The appointment comes with restoration of the temporarily downgraded post and will remain effective until June 30, 2031.
Padmakar Ranipse Appointed Special DG, CISF
Padmakar S Ranipse, IPS (OD:1995), currently ADG, CISF, has been appointed Special Director General, CISF, on an in-situ basis through temporary upgradation.
His appointment will continue until his superannuation on May 31, 2028.
Rajesh Kumar Appointed Special DG, CRPF
Rajesh Kumar, IPS (AGMUT:1995), serving as ADG, CRPF, has been appointed Special Director General, CRPF, on an in-situ basis through temporary upgradation.
The appointment will be for two years from the date of assumption of charge.
Jag Mohan Appointed Special Director, IB
Jag Mohan, IPS (BH:1995), currently serving as Additional Director, Intelligence Bureau, has been appointed Special Director, IB.
His appointment will take effect from the date of assumption of charge and continue until his superannuation on June 30, 2031, or until further orders.
