Former MLA Awla unveils Shaheed Bhagat Singh's statue
Jalalabad, October 3, 2025: A year after the villagers of Chak Banwala (Jalalabad Block) requested the installation of a statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at the village chowk, their dream was fulfilled today with the unveiling ceremony. The demand was raised during the martyr’s birth anniversary in 2024, when former MLA Raminder Singh Awla immediately sanctioned Rs. 1.5 lakh for the project.
On completion of the chowk, Awla himself inaugurated the statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, receiving heartfelt gratitude from the villagers for supporting their initiative. On the same occasion, Awla also contributed Rs. 21,000 in cash to the Ramlila Committee for the upcoming Dussehra festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Awla emphasised that the sacrifices of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his associates can never be forgotten for centuries to come, and remembering them will continue to keep their legacy alive as a source of inspiration for the youth.
The event was attended by Radha Sham, Dimple Kamboj, Shinda, Sarpanch Puran, former Sarpanches Harish and Som Parkash, Anmol Vinayak, Mahinder Kumar, Manga Ram, Vishal Kamboj, Abhi Kamboj, Sourav Kamboj, Gaurav Kamboj, and Gaurav Vinayak, among others.
