In a first, Mann Govt proposes to convene special session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha outside Chandigarh

Chandigarh, October 3, 2025: For the first time in Punjab’s history, a special session of the Vidhan Sabha has been proposed to be convened outside Punjab Vidhan Sabha complex, Chandigarh. The session is likely to held in Sri Anandpur Sahib.
Talking to Babushahi Network, he informed that the Punjab government is considering holding the session in Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 24, as part of the commemoration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru.
Bains added that the state government has planned a series of events to mark the occasion, which will be finalized in a meeting called by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday. He also emphasized that the Constitution permits such a move, as sessions of the Vidhan Sabha can be held anywhere with the Governor’s approval.
According to the proposal, the historic sitting would take place at Baba Jeevan Singh Memorial Park in Anandpur Sahib. Preparations are already underway, with government departments holding discussions to ensure the event is executed smoothly.
If approved by the Punjab Cabinet, the Anandpur Sahib session will not only set a historic precedent but also serve as a symbolic tribute, blending governance with the spiritual and cultural legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
