Minister Sanjeev Arora orders Rs 150 crore highway repairs, cracks down on city defacement in Ludhiana

Ludhiana (Punjab), October 3, 2025: Punjab Cabinet Minister for Power, Industry & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs, Sanjeev Arora, chaired a high-level review meeting in Ludhiana to assess the progress of key infrastructure and civic development projects.
During the meeting, Arora directed the Project Director, NHAI, to begin immediate repairs of service lanes along national highways in Ludhiana. The PD confirmed that ₹150 crore has been allocated for repair and maintenance works. Updates were also shared on Vehicle Underpasses (VUPs) near the Jalandhar bypass.
To maintain urban aesthetics and civic discipline, the Minister instructed the Municipal Corporation and Police Commissionerate to file FIRs against individuals defacing pillars of the Ludhiana-Ferozepur Elevated Highway. He further directed prompt removal of garbage and unclaimed vehicles from public roads.
Arora also reviewed progress on strategic projects including Halwara International Airport, Ludhiana-Bathinda Highway, missing links on the Ludhiana-Kharar Highway, Ludhiana-Ropar connectivity, and parking facilities along the Elevated Highway.
The Minister assessed Punjab State Power Corporation Limited’s (PSPCL) plan to upgrade power infrastructure across 13 municipal corporations covering 87 subdivisions. Ludhiana’s Civil Lines subdivision tender will open on October 9 as the pilot project, aimed at enhancing public safety and reducing power disruptions.
He also conducted a detailed review of development projects under Education, Health, and other key departments, and directed the Deputy Commissioner and Zonal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, to expedite pending works under the MPLAD scheme.
Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment, Arora said, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, we are determined to provide world-class infrastructure and ensure timely completion of development works.”
Prominent officials present included Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, GLADA Additional Chief Administrator Ojsavi Alankar, ADC (Rural Development) Amarjit Bains, CS Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, PD NHAI Priyanka Meena, Zonal Commissioner MCL Shekon, and representatives from the Deputy ESA office.
