Chandigarh, September 6, 2024: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced Santosh Sarwan, mother of Sushil Sarwan who is presently posted as Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer in Kurukshetra, its candidate in the Mulana Assembly constituency.
Following the development, the Congress complained to the Election Commission of India seeking the transfer of IAS officer Sushil Sarwan.
"BJP has made DC Sushil Sarwan's mother a candidate from Mullana assembly seat of Ambala Lok Sabha constituency. Whereas, the boundary of this assembly is adjacent to the border of Kurukshetra district. Part of Mullana assembly constituency adjoins Kurukshetra district and the son of the BJP candidate in Kurukshetra is a DC. In such a situation, he can influence the election. In the last Lok Sabha elections also, Sushil Sarwan was removed from the post of Panchkula DC on the orders of the Election Commission," wrote Haryana Congress Committee member Suresh Unispur in its complaint to ECI
