Ferozepur, May 24, 2026: As the election day of Municipal Council are being held on May 26, this time all the political parties including the Independent candidates are active and contest is going to be interesting and tough as well because this will pass on an image of the party in the next Assembly elections.
Amid the ever-increasing tension, the political atmosphere heated up on Sunday when the police, on the basis of information from their sources, detained for questioning, three supporters, of Chandan Chandu who have supported 22 candidates as Independent in total 33 wards, on the charge of allegedly possessing illegal weapons, being outsiders, and possessing illegal weapons. Enraged Chandu's supporters staged a massive protest outside Police Station City Ferozepur. Raised slogans.
Seeing the popularity of Independent candidates, he told that this is the reason that to harass his fielded candidates.

Later the supporters sat on a dharna outside Police Station City Ferozepur and warned that unless the detained youth are not released, the struggle will continue.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, SP Investigation Manjit Singh and DSP Sukhwinder Singh reached the spot along with police force. Police officials said that on the basis of secret information the suspects have been brought for questioning and the investigation of the matter is going on.
On the other hand, Chandan Chandu alleged that due to his increasing influence in the elections, there was a conspiracy by the opposition party who are trying to suppress us. He said that neither any outsider was with him nor anyone was found with illegal weapons.
