Jalandhar (Punjab), June 22, 2025 — A major fire broke out at Bright Way Sports Factory near St. Soldier College on Basti Danishmanda Road around 2:00 PM on Saturday, sending plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky and causing panic in the area.
The blaze started on the second floor of the factory, which primarily manufactures footballs.
Within minutes, the fire intensified, fueled by strong winds, reducing the entire stock of finished and raw materials to ashes. Fortunately, dozens of workers present inside managed to evacuate safely, and no loss of life was reported.
Residents attempted to douse the flames, but the rapid spread of the fire made their efforts futile. Fire brigade teams arrived promptly, and after nearly two hours of relentless firefighting, the blaze was brought under control.
Officials from the fire department suspect a short circuit as the possible cause of the fire, although a thorough investigation is underway. Samples and evidence from the site are being collected to determine the exact origin of the fire.
The incident created a tense atmosphere in the surrounding locality. Crowds gathered on the streets as the factory went up in flames, and police had to cordon off the area and divert traffic to ensure uninterrupted access for emergency vehicles.
While the financial losses are expected to be substantial, officials expressed relief that there were no casualties. The factory’s owners and authorities are now assessing the damage and reviewing safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
