No property or financial transaction concealed; will fully cooperate with Vigilance probe: Sudhir Sharma

Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), August 18, 2026: Former Himachal Pradesh minister and BJP MLA from Dharamshala Sudhir Sharma has said that he has no objection to an investigation by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, but selective action under political pressure is unacceptable.
Referring to FIR No. 0006/2026 registered by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Dharamshala, Sharma said he was submitting a detailed response to the notice issued under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and would extend full cooperation to the investigation.
Sharma said complete details of the transactions sought by the Vigilance Department were being provided along with documentary evidence. He asserted that neither any property had been concealed nor any financial transaction hidden.
He questioned how any property belonging to a politician could be concealed from the government when details of assets and liabilities declared in election affidavits are publicly available.
“When an ordinary citizen can access the election affidavit of a politician and see the details of declared assets, how can the same information be unavailable to the Government or its investigating agencies?” he asked.
Sharma said property registrations, sale deeds and revenue records were maintained by government departments, while details of bank accounts, Demat accounts and investments were available with the respective financial institutions.
Complete Demat Records Provided to Vigilance
Sharma said the Vigilance Department had sought information related to shares and investments and that complete details of his Demat holdings had been provided for verification.
He said information relating to bank accounts, Demat accounts, properties, vehicles, investments, loans and other movable and immovable assets was being submitted with supporting documents.
₹74.07 Lakh Sale of Ancestral Land Disclosed
Sharma said that during the relevant period, two portions of ancestral land in Baijnath were sold for a combined value of ₹74.07 lakh.
He said both transactions were duly registered and could be verified through official government records.
“There is, therefore, no question of concealing these transactions,” he said.
₹14.50 Lakh Property Transaction Voluntarily Disclosed
Sharma further said that another property was sold during the same period to Anurag Sharma, a resident of Bir, for ₹14.50 lakh.
He claimed that although the transaction had not been specifically sought in the Vigilance notice, he had voluntarily disclosed it in his response to the investigating agency.
“A transaction which was not even specifically asked about has been disclosed by me voluntarily. This itself demonstrates that there has been no attempt whatsoever to conceal any transaction,” he said.
Sharma said he had no objection to the ₹14.50 lakh transaction being investigated and maintained that every relevant transaction should be examined.
His only concern, he said, was that the same yardstick should be applied to everyone and that the investigation should be comprehensive rather than selective.
‘Investigation Should Be Fair, Independent and Equal’
Sharma clarified that he was not seeking a halt to the investigation and would continue to cooperate with every lawful inquiry.
However, he expressed concern that the Vigilance machinery could be used under political pressure from the Chief Minister and the state government to selectively target political opponents.
“My demand is not to stop the investigation. My demand is simple — let the investigation be fair, independent, fact-based and equal for everyone. Let the official records establish the truth,” he said.
‘Political Pressure Cannot Silence Me’
Launching an attack on the Congress government, Sharma alleged that the state government was pursuing a politics of repression and political vendetta to silence the Opposition.
He said FIRs, notices or investigating agencies would not prevent him from raising issues concerning Dharamshala and the people of Himachal Pradesh.
“Such conspiracies cannot stop me from raising the issues of the people. I have raised the voice of Dharamshala and Himachal Pradesh fearlessly in the past, and I will continue to do so. Neither political pressure nor the misuse of investigative machinery can silence me,” Sharma said.
He added that the people of Himachal Pradesh were closely watching the functioning of the Congress government and would respond through democratic means at the appropriate time.
Sharma reiterated that all financial transactions sought by the Vigilance Department were being supported by documentary records and that he would continue to cooperate with the investigation.
“The truth will not emerge through selective investigation. It will emerge only through a complete, impartial and equal investigation. There is no property to hide and no transaction to conceal. Let the government records speak for themselves,” he said.
