Chandigarh orders Special Voter camps on Aug 19-20, warns action for non-compliance

Chandigarh, August 18, 2026: The Chandigarh Administration has directed all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to organise special camps at nearby community centres on August 19 and 20 as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
An order issued by the Director of Public Relations-cum-Assistant Electoral Registration Officer-08, U.T. Chandigarh, directed all BLOs to organise the camps within their respective polling areas to collect the maximum number of Form 6 applications for enrolment of eligible voters.
The BLOs have also been instructed to inform the concerned Booth Level Agents (BLAs) about the camps and ensure their attendance. BLO Supervisors have been directed to conduct proper checking and monitor the camps to ensure compliance with the instructions.
The administration has warned that any BLO or BLO Supervisor failing to comply with the directions will be liable for disciplinary action under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
