Ludhiana (Punjab), July 18, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the much-awaited Halwara International Airport on July 27, marking a historic moment for Ludhiana and the state of Punjab. The announcement has been met with widespread enthusiasm, especially from business and civic leaders.
Ar. Sanjay Goel, Former Director of Ludhiana Smart City Limited, welcomed the development, calling it a “moment of pride and joy” for Ludhiana, which has long yearned for international air connectivity.
“This long-pending demand of Ludhiana’s people is finally becoming a reality. It will connect the city directly to global destinations and unlock new opportunities,” he said in a statement.
Goel emphasized that the airport’s operationalization will act as a catalyst for regional transformation, particularly in the sectors of business, industry, exports, and tourism.
“Ludhiana, already known as the financial capital of Punjab, will attract more investments, create jobs, and elevate its role in the national economy,” he added.
The city, home to many of Punjab’s top industrialists and entrepreneurs, is expected to greatly benefit from enhanced air connectivity, which will also boost exports and promote tourism in the region.
Earlier today, Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora confirmed the inauguration while presiding over a meeting at Bachat Bhawan, stating that the terminal building is ready for launch and the Prime Minister will lead the virtual ceremony on July 27.
