Punjab BJP conducts ‘Mock Assembly’; Demands Dope test for CM and MLAs

Chandigarh, May 1, 2026: In a significant political move coinciding with the ongoing Punjab Vidhan Sabha session, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab organized a one-day ‘Mock Assembly Session’ at its party office today, sharpening its attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
The session was attended by Punjab BJP State President Sunil Jakhar, MLA & Working State President Ashwani Sharma, National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, along with other senior party leaders.

Demand for Dope Test
A key highlight of the mock session was the BJP’s demand for a mandatory “dope test” for the Chief Minister and all MLAs, alleging it as a measure to ensure accountability and seriousness in addressing Punjab’s drug problem.
Attack on Leadership
The BJP leadership also launched a sharp political attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s governance, questioning administrative performance and leadership direction. The party further urged AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to reconsider the leadership setup in Punjab, stating that the state requires more effective governance.
Key Issues Highlighted
During the session, BJP leaders raised multiple concerns through symbolic resolutions, including:
- Rising crime and law-and-order challenges
- Failure to control the drug menace
- Financial stress and increasing state debt
- Agricultural distress affecting farmers
- Unemployment among youth
