Chandigarh, May 1, 2026: BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, calling it a “drama company” that has failed to deliver on governance during its four-and-a-half-year rule.
Chugh alleged that the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has “handed over Punjab to gangsters and extortion networks,” claiming that drug, land, and terror-related criminal activities have flourished under its watch.
He said the BJP held a separate “Janata Di Vidhan Sabha” session to highlight real public issues such as unemployment, farmers’ welfare, and women’s empowerment.
Chugh further alleged that key welfare schemes announced by the state government, including health insurance and women’s pension initiatives, have failed to deliver results on the ground.
The BJP leader claimed that Punjab’s economy has deteriorated significantly under the AAP regime, stating that state debt has risen to nearly ₹4.5 lakh crore.
He also alleged that farmers have not received adequate Minimum Support Price (MSP), government employees are awaiting dearness allowance, and youth remain without employment opportunities.
Targeting the leadership of AAP, Chugh said the “Kejriwal–Mann duo” has “looted Punjab for personal gain” while public welfare has been neglected. He questioned why the government is now holding special sessions after years of inaction, calling it political drama rather than genuine governance reform.
