Amritsar (Punjab), February 26, 2026: In a major development, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has terminated the services of Giani Raghbir Singh from the post of Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib following a decision taken during an interim committee meeting held today.
Confirming the action, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that the decision was taken after serious allegations surfaced against Giani Raghbir Singh. He alleged that the former Head Granthi’s activities had harmed the reputation of the SGPC and brought disrepute to the institution.
According to the SGPC President, Giani Raghbir Singh had been given 72 hours to present evidence in connection with a particular matter. However, he failed to submit any proof within the stipulated time. Dhami further claimed that during his tenure, the former Head Granthi had shown gross negligence towards established rules and religious maryada (code of conduct).
