Smooth completion of wheat procurement process in Ferozepur; nearly 8 lakh MTs procured, over Rs 2K Cr paid to farmers
Ferozepur, May 11, 2026: The wheat procurement process in the district mandis has almost been completed. Sharing details regarding the procurement operations, Deputy Commissioner, Deepshikha Sharma informed that till the evening of May 10, a total of 793,632 metric tonnes of wheat had been procured in the district mandis, achieving 100 percent procurement.
She further stated that the lifting of procured wheat is also being carried out simultaneously. By Sunday evening, 588,544 metric tonnes of wheat, accounting for 76 percent of the total procurement, had already been lifted. She added that the lifting work is expected to be completed within the next one to two days.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that out of the total wheat procured by various procurement agencies, PUNGRAIN procure 255,405 metric tonnes, MARKFED procured 207,956 metric tonnes, PUNSUP procured 198,154 metric tonnes, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation procured 128,159 metric tonnes, while private traders procured 3,957 metric tonnes of wheat.
She further added that payments for the procured wheat are also being made to farmers simultaneously.
