SAD appoints Prof. Virsa Singh Valtoha as General Secretary, inducts him into core committee

Chandigarh, May 11, 2026: Sukhbir Singh Badal has appointed senior party leader and former MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha as General Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal and a member of the party’s Core Committee.
The announcement was made by Daljit Singh Cheema on Monday.
Dr. Cheema said Prof. Virsa Singh Valtoha has previously served as MLA from the Khemkaran constituency and has also held the position of District President of Tarn Taran district in the party. He added that Valtoha has earlier been associated with the party’s Core Committee as well.
The appointment is being seen as part of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s organisational strengthening efforts ahead of upcoming political and electoral activities in Punjab.
