Vermicomposting Workshop Organized under ‘The Green Carnival’
Ferozepur, 29 th March 2026: Mayank Foundation successfully organized a Vermicomposting Workshop under The Green Carnival at Black Gold Jaiwik Khaad, Village Sodhe Wala (Ferozepur), in cooperation with Mr. Mohanjeet Singh and his team.
The project is being undertaken with the support of the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and is funded by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, under the Environment Education Programme.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Secretary Mr. Rajiv Setia and Mr. Deepak Sharma, who greeted all dignitaries and participants.
The Guests of Honour, Sh. Dharam Paul Bansal, Chairman of SBS Nursing and Harmony Ayurvedic Medical College, and Prof. A.K. Sethi, Former Principal of RSD College, graced the occasion and encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Avtar Mehma, a young progressive farmer and Kissan leader, who emphasized the urgent need to shift towards organic farming for a healthier and sustainable future.
Mr. Mohanjeet Singh and his team conducted a practical demonstration on the preparation of vermicompost, providing valuable hands-on learning to the participants.
Around 125 students from SBS Nursing College participated enthusiastically in the workshop and gained practical insights into waste management and organic composting techniques.
As a green initiative, all participants were presented with plants in paper pots, promoting eco-friendly practices and environmental responsibility.
The workshop concluded with a strong message to adopt sustainable lifestyles and contribute towards environmental conservation.
