Fatehgarh Sahib, July.15, 2020: Strictly implementing the orders of the State government not to allow any gathering of more than five persons, the district administration thwart the attempt of Rashtriya Kissan Mahasangh an organization comprising representatives of various Kissan Unions to hold a meeting and to organize dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner Office in protest against the anti farmer ordinances issued by the Union government.
As soon as the kissan union leaders gathered in the premises of Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib today to hold the meeting a heavy contingent of police led by Harpal Singh SP (Investigation) cordoned them. Sanjeev Kumar SDM Fatehgarh Sahib along with SP talked to the representatives of Kissan Unions and apprised them about the bar on the gatherings, meetings and dharnas by the State government amid COVID threat and urged them not to violate the orders by holding meeting and dharnas, moreover section 144 is in force. The BKU leaders protested and urged to hold the meeting but they were not allowed.
While talking to the media persons in the premises of Gurudwara Sahib, Jagjit Singh Dalewal State President strongly criticized the Union and State governments for their dictatorial and anti farmer’s attitude. He said that the Union government brought three ordinances, which are totally anti farmers and there is strong resentment among the farmer community as now the traders will procure their produce at their own rates. He said that Kissan Unions will organize Jail Bharo Andolan from 10th August and they will visit all the villages to apprise the farmers about ill effects of ordinances and to get ready for andolan.
Lashing out at the State government, he said that though Capt. Government is opposing the ordinances but they are not being allowed to hold meetings and protests and indirectly helping the Union government.
The Representatives of Bhartiya Kissan Union( BKU) Ekta Sidhupur, BKU( Doaba), BKU( Majha), Kissan Sangharsh Committee, Loak Bhilai Insaaf Welfare Society, Sangarsh Committee Dasuaha and other organizations were also present.
