Agitating farmers vacate portion of service road at Gazipur border
New Delhi, October 21, 2021: The farmers agitating against the three farm bills vacated a portion of the service road at Delhi's Gazipur border on Thursday.
Led by BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikiat, the farmers are vacating the service lane portion of the road that goes from Ghaziabad to Delhi, to allow the movement of public vehicles.
Speaking to the media, Rakesh Tikiat said that the farmers had never blocked the service road, it was the police who blocked the way.
"We never blocked the way, it was the police who did this. We are just clearing the road to make our way towards the Parliament to protest against three farm bills," said Rakesh Tikait
Earlier today, Supreme Court said that Farmers have the right to protest but they cannot keep roads blocked indefinitely.
The BKU also posted on its official Twitter account that rumors are being spread that the Gazipur border is being vacated, which is completely baseless.
