Chandigarh, July 01, 2024: Newly elected MP from Sirsa Lok Sabha seat, Kumari Selja said that after the political and moral setback in the elections,
"PM Narendra Modi and BJP are pretending to respect the Constitution, but the truth is that the three laws of the criminal justice system that are being implemented from today were forcibly passed by suspending 146 MPs. Now this bulldozer will not let the justice run on the parliamentary system. This bill should be presented again in the Parliament and passed after debate on it," she added.
In a statement issued to the media, Kumari Selja said that three new criminal laws are being implemented in the entire country today. From today, three new laws, Indian Justice Code, Indian Civil Defense Code and Indian Evidence Act are being implemented in the country in place of IPC, CrPC and Indian Evidence Act.
She has said that these three laws should be stopped immediately. She said that the foundation of a police state is being laid through these laws. The new criminal laws will lay the foundation of turning India from a welfare state to a police state. She said that any decision will be taken only after these laws are discussed again in the Parliament.
She said there are huge challenges ahead for law enforcement agencies, judicial officers and legal professionals. It is said that these laws will affect a large number of citizens at some point of time.
"The manner in which the government rushed through these laws in Parliament and the way it was implemented is not desirable in a democracy. These laws were neither adequately discussed in the Parliament Committee nor were they extensively discussed in the House, there was not even any consultation with stakeholders," she added.
Kumari Selja said that the state government has completely failed in protecting the lives and property of the people even though the Home Ministry is with the Chief Minister. Being the Home Minister of Haryana, the Chief Minister should solve this problem. There is no law in the state, but jungle raj. Cases of firing, ransom and extortion are increasing everywhere. Instead of catching the criminals, the government is busy making false announcements and promises.
The state in which crime increases can never progress. Due to increase in crime, businessmen and industrialists are constantly migrating from Haryana.
Due to which unemployment is increasing more than before. Due to increase in unemployment, Haryana is at the top in terms of crime. She said that in Hisar, several incidents of firing and demanding ransom of crores of rupees took place one after the other but the police has nothing except assurances. The businessmen are protesting for security. No criminal involved in any of the incidents has been caught which is a living proof of the failure of the government.
